About

I was born in Bowling Green, KY on March 2, 1979 and was raised in Franklin, KY. Matt was born in Bowling Green, KY on July 4, 1979. We were delivered by the same doctor and lived 20 miles apart until we were 7 years old. Matt moved to West Virginia with his parents and lived in Inwood, WV until his junior year of high school. He and his family returned to BG his senior year and since then we have again lived 20 miles apart. We both have gone through alot of hard times, but we both made it! We both feel that when we met was perfect timing – we had both begun to grow closer with God and were finding that our purpose in life was to serve Him.Matt and I met on July 2, 2005 at my Aunt Vivian’s 4th of July party. Matt had met my cousin in 1999 when he entered KATI in Bowling Green, KY. Brandon and Vivian thought they would try to be match-makers, and, well…it worked! We hit it off fairly quickly. He was interested in listening about my recent mission trip to Africa and I was interested in his ideas on the Creation vs. Evolution Theory. Our first date was at Puerta Vallarta mexican restaurant in Bowling Green, KY on July 14, 2005. From that point on we saw each other almost every day. Needless to say almost three years later, here we are about to tie the knot. We truly are a match made in heaven. When I get bent out of shape (which is frequently) he always knows how to get me grounded. I’m a dreamer and he’s a realist; we balance each other well. But we also have so much in common like similar beliefs, values and goals for the future. But most importantly we are both Christians and both completely and madly in love!

OUR STORY HER VERSION

I received a call from my mother around the end of June, 2005. She said that she wanted me to go with her to my Aunt Vivian’s 4th of July party on July 2nd. But this was not just some family gathering. No, they were setting me up with one of Brandon’s friends, Matt. They thought we would really hit it off. I remember that Matt seemed shy and we did not get to talk very much that night. But when we did get to talk he seemed to be very interested in me and in what I liked to do. I guess he decided I was okay to look at and he got Brandon to set up another get together a few days later at my cousin Derek’s house. That night was better than the first, and it was followed by our first official date on July 14, 2005. We went to Puerta Vellarta’s for dinner. I remember eating more than a few chips. I remember feeling very comfortable with him, we talked for hours, and hours turned into days. Matt and I saw each other almost everyday from that point on. When we did not see each other, we talked on the phone (when mine would work). We fell in love and our dogs became the best of friends. After three years together, we are all so happy, and now officially a family. Life doesn’t get much better than this. — Matt’s version is much better and more detailed! Read his for the scoop!

OUR STORY HIS VERSION

We were introduced on July 2nd 2005. We met at Brandons house for some fireworks and a cookout. I really wasn’t sure how it would all go so i wasn’t expecting much. We didn’t really talk much for a while at first but as dinner ended we started to chat a bit and then went to watch the fireworks at the corvette plant. Well when we got there we really didn’t even talk alot until we said “nice to meet you” and goodbye. So afterward I was thinking “well I guess she wasn’t really interested”. But to my suprise she wanted to meet again.
So since our last meeting wasnt great we decided on another cookout at brandons. This was a totally different day, the night was great and according to her I talked to much but what else can you do to get to know someone. After that night she gave me her number and i called not knowing that her phone was a piece of junk. So basically the first couple of nights was alot of her hanging up on me or me talking only to realize that she hadn’t been connected for a while. But she finally did get a new phone and we set up a date to meet for dinner.
The dinner was good even though i felt uncofortable because she ate like 2 chips and that was about it while i ate a huge meal. but afterward we walked outside where it was raining and just had fun talking in the rain. so we continued to meet pretty much daily after that. After a couple of months she decided to bring Jeter(her dog) over and see how he would get along with Kato (my dog) I had never had Kato around any other dogs and being that he is over 4 times bigger than Jeter I was just praying that he wouldnt eat him. I figured if he did that would pretty much be the end of Me and Mandy. But God was kind and they got along great…well after Jeter attacked Kato and Kato pinned him down. But after that they have been great friends. So basically everything was great for about 2 years when i started thinking could she be it. It took me a long while to figure out what i was thinking but then I got up some courage and planned a big trip.
I went as far to buy her a brand new dress just for this trip. I set up reservations at one of the top hotels in the world in savannah with all the toppings. Private tours, Private dinners, Massages, the works. But I never told her where were going (which later on didnt really matter). Basically the closer we got to our trip the more nervous I became. She wanted to leave as soon as possible and actually ended up making us…yes making us leave a day early. Which turned out to be better as i didnt calculate the travel time right. So basically my secret plan as to where we were going failed as about 2-3 hours from savannah you know where your going. So I thought oh well it will still be fun. The best feeling for me was when we drove by where we were staying. It took her about 30 minutes to believe me that we were staying there. We ate some great food and walked untill I couldnt walk anymore while there. But that Thusday the 20th was the best night. We took it easy during the day and have a private six course dinner (thats what they say. I say 1 shrimp isnt a course) which all tasted great. There where 2 dessert trays the 2nd being a 100% chocolate piano. inside the piano was a ring and I then asked if she would marry me. She said no…i mean yes. Bet she wishes she could go back now. Anyway She said yes and got sick from all the excitement. The next couple of days we did the tourist thing but we did it with a new loof on life. After we came back she started right away on the planning. So I havnt really seen her much since then. just kidding. She has done a great job on getting everything done in such a short time. I truely am blessed to have found her. And for those women who want more details I am sure hers will be better.

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” – Ephesians  5:31-33
